What is Hadith?
This is a body of literature that comprises the
sayings, teachings, behaviour etc. of Prophet
Muhammad (peace be upon him). Muslims try to emulate
the character of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in
their daily lives and use the hadith as a key
source to that end. The Qur'an together with hadith
constitute the two most authoritative sources
for moral, ethical and spiritual guidance for
Muslims. |

The Messenger of God Muhammad (may peace be upon him)
said to his cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib:
"O Ali, do not follow a glance with another, for you will be forgiven for the first, but not for the second. "
The
above Hadith was reported by al-Tirmidhi, 2701; see Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7953
God commands the believers in the Holy Quran: Tell the believers to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, God is All-Aware of what they do. (The chapter of - An-Nur 24:30)
